GDSsupplier secures strategic partnership with on-line business company
Travelstore.com appoints Worldspan in supply deal
Report by LEEWINTER
WORLDSPANhas beaten off rival global distribution system and technology suppliers to win a strategic partnership with on-line business travel firm travelstore.com.
The decision gives Worldspan access to the corporate travel market in Europe for the first time.
Travelstore.com president and chief executive officer Bill McFarlane said the firm had conducted an exhaustive review of distribution systems before choosing Worldspan.
He said: “Our selection is based not only on its portfolio of products, services and support but also on its commitment to travel distribution.”
Under the agreement, Worldspan will be the exclusive supplier of GDS technology and services for travelstore.com and its on-line travel planning and reservations site. It will also provide travelstore.com with transaction processing and technology services as well as a comprehensive package of customised e-commerce operations.
Worldspan senior vice-president and general manager – worldwide e-commerce Sue Powers said: “We are very pleased that travelstore.com has recognised our commitment to e-commerce excellence by choosing us as its technology partner.”
Meanwhile, travelstore.com has completed the rebranding of Amersham Travel with new signage and an official reopening ceremony. The business agency was bought by travelstore.com in March (Travel Weekly March 13). The agency will now be known as travelstore.com.
Happy medium: Worldspan will gain across Europe
