has ended months of uncertainty at Going Places by finally appointing a
replacement for managing director Terry Fisher.
Fisher,
who has been on sick leave for five months, will be replaced by former UCI
Cinemas MD Dave Harris. Harris was introduced to staff at Airtours’ retail
conference in Skegness last week.
Airtours
Leisure Group chief executive Richard Carrick said the appointment will bring
fresh ideas to the new company.
News of Fisher’s departure was greeted by loud cheers and
applause by staff at the conference.
The former
MD of Travelworld was responsible for initiating a series of cost-cutting
measures including controversial plans to get rid of cleaners from Going Places
shops.
Carrick
said: “It has been a frustrating time for staff. They are relieved the matter
has been resolved. We are moving into a different era.”
