Sandral tells members ‘invest in staff training’
THE ASSOCIATION of British Tour Operators to France chairman Warren Sandral has urged the association’s members to invest in staff training.
Sandral addressed delegates during the opening session of the ABTOF conference and said training is essential to remain ahead of the competition.
“Training is still very low on our collective list of priorities. The amount we spend in our industry is appalling. The general amount spent on training by companies in the UK in £233 per annum per person. In our sector we spend less than half that and we run the very serious risk of falling behind.”
Sandral said ABTOF members should have faith in their staff as they could bring new and innovative ideas.
Sandral also warned members of increased competition from low-cost airlines and new tour operators, but stopped short of saying these factors would be bad for business.
