Don’t tell us how to do business
WITH regard to Ryanair, I feel the sooner ABTA takes it to court the better (Travel Weekly April 16).
I believe Ryanair is a good carrier for passengers, but comments like “we pay agents commission so they cannot charge fees” only angers me.
On a £2 Prestwick-Stansted return ticket I once issued, I received 5% commision from the booking which amounted to exactly 10p.
British Airways and ABTA both agree the average cost per transaction is about £25-£35 but Ryanair obviously believes we can make a living on 10p per ticket. I would like to see it do so.
Why Ryanair refuses to allow us to charge fees on computer reservation system bookings is ridiculous, and then goes on to reduce the fare as well.
Please will Ryanair go to zero commission, and not insult agents any longer, and allow us to do business as we allow it to do so.
