Millennium Copthorne puts focus on business facilities

High tech: the Millennium Gloucester unveiled new business rooms this month
MILLENNIUM Copthorne Hotels is investing heavily in facilities for executive travellers in a bid to consolidate its position as a leading UK business brand.
The group, which has 11 Copthorne hotels and six Millennium hotels in the UK, is opening a dedicated business wing at the Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick at the end of next month.
It has converted 35 rooms in a separate building into business rooms to create a standalone facility for executive guests. The wing will have its own business centre and dedicated staff trained to deal with corporate guests.
This month it unveiled its deluxe business rooms on the Millennium Business Club floor at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London.
It will complement the existing Club floor but has rooms with additional business facilities, including laptops, printers and ergonomically-designed desk chairs.
Chief operating officer Tony Potter said: “Depending on the hotel’s location, corporate clients can form up to 80% of our customer base. We need to create a successful environment for transacting so we’re really fine tuning what customers’ requirements are.”
Later this year, the four-star group will introduce a new meetings product in three of its UK hotels, including the latest in furnishings and technology.
* Agents are now entitled to 10% commission on prebooked meetings and events business, guest rooms, room hire and residential and non-residential packages in all Millennium and Copthorne hotels – previously it was 8%.
