ABTA sticks with Palma for 2003 convention

ABTA
has confirmed it is to hold its 2003 convention in Palma, Majorca, despite
fears it would pull out over the introduction of the eco-tax.

A
total of 1,400 rooms have been secured in a range of 12 properties with the
majority of delegates expected to stay at the Melia Victoria and the
Valparaiso, both in Palma.

Regional
charters will be available, with scheduled flights from GB Airways and Iberia.
ABTA is also talking to BMI.

Room
rates for a four-star hotel are between £25 and £35 per person, with airfares
starting from £140 for members.

Business
sessions for the convention, which takes place from October 31 to November 3
2003, will be held in the Palma Auditorium.
