Malaysia Airlines plans new direct service

MALAYSIAAirlines is to make its Manchester-Kuala Lumpur service a non-stop flight just one year after launching the route.

From March 26, the present stop in Munich will be dropped to provide a better service on the thrice-weekly flight to the Malaysian capital.

Malaysia’s decision on the route means it will offer the only non-stop service to southeast Asia from Manchester at the present time.

Business passengers, in particular, have been put off from using Asian flights from Manchester due to added flight times – prompted by the previous stops.

The airline’s vice-president UK and Europe Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan said the airline decided to make the flight non-stop due to strong demand for the service in its first year of operation.

The carrier is working with the Malaysian Tourist Board and Marketing Manchester to promote the revised link to Asia.
