ABTA’s former head of legal affairs Riccardo Nardi and
wife Samantha will reappear before magistrates next month after the
Crown Prosecution Service was granted more time to prepare its
case.
Despite being given six weeks to prepare paperwork for committal
proceedings, the CPS admitted to Horseferry Road Magistrates Court
last week that it was still unable to proceed.
The CPS has now been given an additional three weeks to produce
the papers with the case adjourned until September 14.
The accused couple, both 37 and from Pulloxhill, Bedford, were
not in court to hear the developments having been excused
attendance the previous day by a District Judge.
Nardi, once the association’s fraud-buster, is accused of
swindling more than £1 million from his former employer. Both
he and his wife face an unspecified number of charges in relation
to the allegation.
ABTA described the delay as frustrating but refused to directly
criticise the CPS for dragging its heels. The case continues.
