TRAVELSCENE sales director John Harding has quit his post as
ABTA president.
Harding had “no option” but to resign after city break operator
Travelscene ceased trading.
The ABTA board of directors are likely to appoint an interim
president to take over until next April’s annual general meeting
within the next week.
A spokesman said: “John has no option but to resign as
president. Obviously we are sad to see the company closing down and
on a personal note John has such a high-profile career and is half
way through his term as president. He has a huge following.”
Harding began as president in May 2003 and was unchallenged as
president this year.
The interim president will not be able to stand for election
under ABTA rules and a proper election will be carried out.
