KLM’s start-up low-cost carrier Buzz has taken 40% of its bookings over the Internet.
The Stansted-based airline said initial sales over its Web site, www.buzzaway.com, were running at 20% but this figure has since doubled as widespread London publicity has an effect.
Commercial director Tony Camacho said £1m worth of bookings have been taken since seats went on sale at the beginning of last month.
He said reservations from business agents and group bookers have been encouraging.
Group sales have accounted for 12,500 sold sectors on Buzz’s network.
All sales from Buzz count towards agents’ overall KLM commission payments.
The most popular destinations are Berlin and Lyons, with fares leading in at £60 return in a special introductory offer for bookings up to Wednesday. Travel is between January 4 to March 25.
The offer cuts £20-£40 off normal fares.
Flights to Buzz’s seven European destinations, including Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Milan and Paris, start at the beginning of next month.
