NORMAL booking conditions will apply for holidays to Sharm el-Sheik in Egypt from tomorrow despite the bomb attacks on the Naama Bay resort which killed 88 people.
The Federation of Tour Operators said there were 9,000 tourists in Sharm el-Sheik on Saturday, the vast majority of which travelled with its members.
Customers set to travel to Sharm el-Sheik on Saturday, yesterday or today have been offered alternative holidays or refunds. Packages to all other destinations in Egypt remain unaffected.
An ABTA spokeswoman said the decision to revert to normal booking conditions on Tuesday followed indications by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that it is unlikely to issue advice of a “clear and imminent danger” of a further attack.
However, she added: “Tour operators will continue to review their policies.”
Thomas Cook said it had flights travelling out from Gatwick and Manchester today, although around a quarter of passengers had cancelled. However, normal conditions would apply for its next Sharm el-Sheik flights on Thursday.
Several British tourists are reportedly still unaccounted for. There have been reports that two of the people killed were British but the FCO have not confirmed this.
The FCO has sit up an emergency helpline number for concerned relatives on 020-7008 0000.
