HUNDREDS of agencies running the TARSC system have not yet tested their PCs for the millennium bug, according to the company’s sales director Kerry Costello.
“There are a lot of agencies who have yet to face up to the prospect of their hardware not being compliant,” said Costello.
“Over the last nine months, we’ve written to all our customers offering to test it for them. A significant number have taken up the offer but we’re convinced there are still a lot of old PCs out there – 286s, 386s and 486s – that have not been tested.”
The companyhas contracted maintenance engineers across the UK to test the TARSC system and fix old PCs.
Agencies with two to five PCs pay a total of £375 for the test, work carried out and a certificate of compliance. For six to 10 PCs, the cost is £640.
“Every machine gets a booklet to say it has passed. It gives agents proper protection, otherwise they would have no comeback,” added Costello.
n TARSC has just launched its new Viewdata Express product that displays several tour operators’ product and booking screens at the same time.
