Chris Roe leaves Opodo – 9 Jan 2007

Opodo head of tours Chris Roe is leaving the online travel agent after just 18 months for a new position at Virgin Holidays.

According to Travel Weekly’s sister title Travolution, Roe, who joined online travel agent Opodo from Sky Travel in June 2005, left the company at short notice last week.

The departure of Roe, who has held senior positions at Expedia and Thomson, comes just two months after the shock exit of chief executive Simon Vincent to become vice president of Hilton UK & Ireland.

Vincent was replaced within a month by Ignacio Martos, boss of online travel portal Rumbo.

An Opodo spokeswoman confirmed Roe had left, adding: “We are sorry to see him go, but we wish him all the best for the future.”
