Summer 2006 sees fewer charter delays than previous years

Charter passengers suffered fewer delays last summer than in the previous two years, but punctuality was not up to the standard of 2003 (.pdf).

The annual report on charter delays by the Air Transport Users Council (.pdf) ranked MyTravel Airways the best among UK carriers, after improving its on-time performance for the third year running.

The AUC league table, which ranks airlines by the proportion of flights delayed by more than one hour, saw MyTravel ahead of First Choice Airways, Thomsonfly and Thomas Cook Airlines, although all three operated significantly more flights than MyTravel.

The big four outstripped the other major UK charter carriers XL Airways and Monarch Airlines. However, half of all delays are caused by air traffic control.
