Ryanair introduces 10 new routes from East Midlands Airport – 28 Feb 2007

Ryanair aircraftRyanair has launched 10 additional routes from East Midlands Airport this month.

It has added services to Alghero, Milan, Valencia, Bratislava and Knock four times a week, and to Pisa, Granada, Santiago de Compostela, Krakow and Inverness three times a week.

The new services bring the number of routes that Ryanair flies from East Midlands Airport to 29. The carrier has also increased the number of its aircraft based at the airport from two to five.

Ryanair promises a 75% discount on its lowest fares on all bookings made by midnight on Thursday (March 1) for travel by the end of June.

Meanwhile, in a statement Ryanair said it remains confident the European Commission will give it clearance to mount a new takeover bid for Irish rival Aer Lingus that would see it move into long-haul flying for the first time.

An earlier bid expired after being referred to the EC on competition grounds.

The EC has extended the deadline on reaching a decision from May 11 to June 13.
