WORLDSPAN’S new chief executive Paul Blackney is talking to a number of companies looking to sell travel over the Internet.
Blackney, who joined the global distribution system supplier in October, would not reveal any names but said he aimed to widen Worldspan’s lead over its competitors in the area of e-commerce.
The GDS already provides the engine behind Microsoft’s Expedia and Priceline, which is the largest seller of travel on the Internet in the US. “That makes us the largest GDS in terms of e-commerce and I intend to grow our share of that business,” said Blackney.
