London City to sell hotel beds in tie up with Laterooms – 2 May 2007

London City Airport has teamed up with First Choice-owned accommodation specialist Laterooms.com to add a hotel booking facility to its website.

The airport-branded service avoids falling within the ATOL consumer financial protection regulations and Package Travel Regulations by keeping flight and accommodation bookings separate.

Laterooms.com head of affiliate marketing Jenny Oakley said: “People do not book a room with a flight. They are two separate transactions.

“Customers give their credit card details to hold a reservation, but the booking is with the hotel and they pay on arrival.”

Laterooms already provides accommodation-booking for VisitBritain and other tourist boards, but this is its first deal with a UK airport.

Oakley said: “The contract is between the hotel and the customer. We are an online agent. But if there is any kind of problem, we have a strong customer service policy and full customer service team.”

The London City site offers a range of accommodation at the most popular destinations served from the airport, from bed-and-breakfast to five-star hotels and serviced apartments.
