Costa Cruises is to christen its latest ship Costa Serena twice this weekend – once in Marseilles and again on the virtual community site, Second Life.
Saturday’s online ceremony will give Second Lifers the chance to experience a ‘virtual inauguration’ complete with entertainment, a party and a firework display. Users will also be able to view the decks, experience on board services and ask a virtual host questions about the new ship.
Costa Cruises has also developed a micro-site for the 3,800 passenger ship whose godmother will be French actress Marion Cotillard, currently starring in the movie La Vie en Rose.
