Thirty-day visas for Thailand can now only be used twice per year when crossing land borders, the government is warning.
Travellers had been known to exploit the 30-day exemption visas by briefly crossing to neighbouring countries before returning to Thailand to extend their stay.
Now, tourists must apply for a visa in advance if they want to enter Thailand by land more than twice per year.
The UK Foreign Office has today updated its travel advice to address the change.
British nationals make more than one million visits to Thailand every year.
