First Choice World Care scheme extended to Thomson brands

First Choice’s World Care Fund is being rolled out across all of Thomson’s operator brands following last September’s merger of the two companies.

TUI UK director of marketing and product Tim Williamson said the scheme, which has raised more than £1 million through First Choice customers alone, will be introduced in conjunction with the summer 2009 Thomson programmes.

Customers will be able to opt out of the payments, which are £1 per adult and 50p per child and matched by the operator. This money is automatically added to the price of their holiday. The money is then split between The Travel Foundation, which organises projects benefiting local communities in tourist destinations, and Climate Care, a carbon- offsetting company.
