Majorca tipped as top beach destination this Easter

Majorca is expected to be the top foreign beach destination for British holidaymakers this Easter, according to online specialist On the Beach.

The increasingly popular year-round Balearic island is closely followed by Tenerife, last year’s top Easter destination.

The Algarve region of Portugal is the third most popular for Easter, followed by Alicante in Spain’s Costa Blanca region and the island of Lanzarote.

Destinations showing the biggest increase in sales for Easter over last include Corfu, Crete and Cyprus.

Marrakech and Agadir in Morocco are also proving more popular this year.

On the Beach chief marketing officer, Alistair Daly, said: “Spain is always a popular destination for Brits heading abroad over the Easter period and it’s interesting to see the growing popularity of Majorca, which in the past was generally considered a summer sun destination for British holidaymakers.

“We can see that trend continuing with more and more people heading to other traditional summer sun destinations such as Corfu and Crete over the Easter period, both of which enjoy many hours of sunshine each day. ”
