HOVERSPEED is pioneering ticketless travel on its cross-Channel services from November 14.
Passengers booking with travel agents, or at the port on the day of travel, will be given a booking reference to quote at check-in. Those customers booking direct by telephone will receive an invoice which also acts as their travel itinerary/confirmation document.
The new service will be available on Hoverspeed’s services from Dover to Calais and Ostend, Folkestone to Boulogne and Newhaven to Dieppe. The company claims it is the first ferry operator to introduce ticketless travel.
Hoverspeed managing director Geoffrey Ede said: “From the passengers’ perspective, ticketless travel means less paperwork to worry about and faster check-in procedures.”
Meanwhile, Hoverspeed is introducing a new design of boarding card to meet new passenger registration requirements which come into force on January 1.
This requires the name, address and sex of all passengers to be recorded.
