Accommodation only specialist getabed has announced that Dubai has overtaken New York as its top-selling destination.
New York had been getabed’s top seller for more than 16 years.
Managing director Matt Stuart said: “Over the past three to four years, we have focused on contracting some amazing properties in Dubai with excellent rates, all made possible by our significant local presence since our new headquarters opened there in 2013.
“Dubai continues to evolve and innovate and with average prices set to fall due to increased supply in the market due to hundreds of hotels opening between 2015-2020, there has never been a better time to visit the city. Our traditional UK market has shown another year of double digit growth for the city, and with fast growing source markets in Ireland and Middle East, Dubai has just tipped New York to our number one destination”.
Stuart said getabed’s 2017 sales are on target to be more than 14% ahead of 2016.
“We continue to deliver an increasingly competitive and diverse hotel portfolio, enhance technology, and improve systems to ensure our trade partners can access the best product and pricing as quickly and simply as possible,” Stuart added.
