Pure Luxury has reported the best sales week its history, with the Caribbean proving to be its top-seller.
Gold Medal’s luxury arm – launched more than a decade ago – enjoyed an increase of more than 100% for bookings to the Caribbean for the week of January 8 to 14 compared to last year.
The record sales come less than six months after hurricanes battered parts of the Caribbean and follow the recent launch of the operator’s peak sales campaign.
Lisa McAuley, managing director dnata Travel B2B Europe, said: “We’re thrilled our new sales brochures and incentive opportunities have captured the imagination of agents to ensure such a promising start to the year.
“It is also incredibly reassuring to see figures showing the Caribbean is back on its feet following the unwelcome visits from hurricanes Irma and Maria last autumn.”
She added: “Pure Luxury continues to go from strength to strength for the business and having a record breaking week under our belt already this year is no small feat.
“But, as always, none of our success would be possible without the ongoing support of the trade.”
Demand for Africa was also up 38% year on year and Oceania sales were up 36%.
Gold Medal and Pure Luxury as a group also reported a 76% rise in demand for group travel while agent sales were up more than 20%.
The peaks campaigns for Gold Medal and Pure Luxury run until the end of Feburary and includes four sales brochures, offers of agent fam trips to the US and Thailand and incentives such as a Go for Gold prize draw and a chance to double Farebank Rewards.
