Costa Brava suffers another picture mix up

Costa Brava Pyrenees Tourism has been caught out again for using photos of beaches taken elsewhere in the world.

In the latest embarrassment for the tourist board, the authority used a picture of a man and boy standing on an Australian beach for an advert celebrating the 100th anniversary of the coastline.

The advert, which featured the slogan “Congratulations Costa Brava on 100 Years. You really are great.”, was placed in 30,000 copies of a magazine for the Forum Gastronimic, a food fair based in nearby Girona.

The latest gaffe comes just weeks after the same tourist board used a picture of a woman lying on a Bahamas beach to promote the region.

Board spokeswoman Victoria Mas said the most recent photo was arranged through an advertising agency, adding: “We told them what we wanted … a photo of an adult with a child.”

Of the previous incident, Mas added: “They were isolated incidents.”
