New properties open doors in Sabah


Two new properties have opened in Sabah; the five-star Sutera Hotel and the four-star Magellan Hotel. Both are located in a new conference and sporting complex close to Sutera Harbour. The complex boasts a yachting marina, 27-hole golf course, 10-pin bowling alley and leisure centre. It is not yet featured by any UK operators.


Dream Journeys to offer grand prix deals


Dream Journeys is putting together packages to the Malaysian Grand Prix to be held in Kuala Lumpur on October 22. The operator said it will have further details, including ticket prices, available by the end of this month. Tourism Malaysia is expecting 100,000 visitors to attend the race, which will be the final event of the 2000 Formula One series.


Discerning Holidays plans Malaysia move


Flight-only specialist to Malaysia, London-based Discerning Holidays, has started selling packages to the destination for the first time. It offers a range of deals, including safaris to Borneo, golf holidays and beach resorts, plus tailor-made options.


Somak to expand programme for 2001


Somak Holidays is planning to expand its Malaysia programme for 2001 to include the Taman Negara National Park, while Cresta Holidays is looking at adding east coast beach resorts and the island of Borneo next year.


More operators introduce Redang


Hayes and Jarvis has added the east coast beach resort of Redang, with package prices starting at £565 for five nights in a four-star hotel. This includes flights from the UK and transfers. Distant Dreams is also featuring Redang for the first time and the neighbouring resort of Tioman, with eight-night packages to both leading in at £699.
