Eurostar Belgian services remain suspended in wake of train crash

Eurostar trains to Belgium remain suspended for a second day running as Belgian authorities launch an inquiry into yesterday morning’s train crash that killed at least 18 people.

Concerns remain that more bodies may be found today as efforts resume to disentangle the wreckage. The crash occurred about 10 miles south of Brussels on a stretch of track where high-speed lines intersect with commuter services.

Although Eurostar trains were not involved in the crash, the train operator has been forced to halt its Belgian services. An inquiry is being launched into the crash and already human error is believed to be a contributing factor.

Eurostar is running all its services to Lille, although they are subject to delays.

Customers with tickets to Brussels on today’s effected services are being advised to either get refunds or exchange them for a later date.
