Carrier sticks to business travel promotions

Go has ruled out targeting leisure agents after promoting its flights to business-travel agents in the Stansted area.

Go has offered 200 business agents free flights as it bids to take more business passengers away from established airlines.

Marketing manager Mireille Briggs said the leisure side was important to Go but business travel agents were the priority.

Currently business travel accounts for 30% of passengers, with Munich, Madrid and Bilbao the most popular routes.

Briggs reported strong interest in the airline’s two-night stay £140 fully flexible ticket – double its headline return fares – which was proving popular among business customers.

She acknowledged agents were charging around £10 to book Go directly or over the Internet. However, she added some did not charge anything as they were on a management fee contract with clients.

Briggs said £10 was a fair amount to charge, but would be concerned if fees rose.
