Thailand has launched a website focused on promoting the country as a medical tourism destination.
Speaking at ATM the newly appointed governor of the country’s tourism authority Suraphon Svetasreni revealed that more than 59% of visitors from the Middle East travelled to the country as medical tourists.
Svetasreni explained: “Thailand is a centre of international excellence in terms of health and wellness and draws in huge numbers of people for medical services, plastic surgery, dentistry and general wellness.”
The site thailandmedtourism.com is designed to highlight the benefits of the destination for medical treatments.
This aspect of tourism is one third of what Svetasreni described at the three gs – good health, good food and good price.
The tourism authority (TAT) celebrates its 50th birthday this year and Svetasreni said to mark the anniversary it was working with airlines and operators around the world to offer good deals.
He added: “The last 50 years has been about making an economic success of tourism – the next 50 will be about making it sustainable.”
