An Irish bed bank has today ceased trading, the second of its kind to do so within the last four months.
The largely trade-facing Dublin-based Chase Travel International has placed a note on its homepage stating: “Dear travel agent, It is with great sadness that as of the 1st of November Chase Travel has ceased trading.
“The company is seeking professional advice on the next steps and a further update will be provided accordingly.”
Simon Nugent, chief executive of the Irish Travel Agents’ Association, said: “We’re not expecting any consumer impact in the Irish market from this closure.
“The level of exposure to my member agents who would have done business with Chase is very limited. The company had not been trading much recently.”
Nugent added that the impact of the company’s demise was expected to be markedly less than when another Irish bed broker, 1800Hotels.com, went into administration on July 20 as it made a lot more direct sales.
