DESPITE all the other amusing incidents last week, surely the most embarrassing was British Airways’ failure to raise its hyped-up ferris wheel on London’s South Bank.
First a spokeswoman told watchers is was gradually going up, then it wasn’t, then it was, and then finally, no, it wasn’t going anywhere.
The massive structure had in fact not budged an inch.
BA will not say when its London Eye – the name of the project – will be ready, despite it being a centrepiece of the Government’s millennium celebrations.
BA also has a hand in the Dome, so it will be concentrating on that while the wheel remains stuck.
An old, but none the less stimulating, joke has been doing the rounds at BA’s Waterside headquarters.
Q: How can we get the wheel up?A: Float some Viagra down the Thames.
