n Brittany gets in early for gite reservations



Brittany Ferries has started taking French gite bookings for 2000, even though next year’s brochure will not be outuntil late autumn. The initiative, which is aimed at repeatcustomers, means those wishing to reserve a particular gite can do so by putting down a £30 per person deposit.



n P&O prepares for passenger registration



P&O Stena Line has issued draft passenger registration forms to tour operators and group travel organisers inanticipation of a law change from January 2000. The move is intended to ensure a smooth transition to a new system that requires ferry operators serving routes of 20 miles or more to hold details of all passengers travelling on their vessels.



n september discounts from irish ferries



Irish Ferries is offering discounts on travel between September 6 and 30. Rates start at £69 for a five-day return between Pembroke and Rosslare – a saving of £80 on the brochure price. The lead-in rates on the Holyhead-Dublin route are £99 on a conventional ferry and £139 on a fast ferry.
