A range of UK short breaks has been introduced by youth brand Contiki following the launch of its Detour brand of ‘mini adventures’.
Contiki is offering nine new domestic holidays, from city breaks to active countryside escapes, for 2021 on the back of the success of its two wellness weekends in Devon and Wales last summer.
Most of the new UK trips fall under the operator’s Detour range, which comprises 18 short break adventures in total for 2021-2022 aimed at millennial and Gen Z holidaymakers.
Detour offers themed short breaks worldwide for groups of eight on average. Themes range from active and adventure to food-inspired and wellness trips.
Destinations range from Austria, Croatia and France to Botswana, Costa Rica and South Africa, as well as the UK. Each Detour holiday is hosted by a local who invites travellers into their lives or homes to share their passions. The trips can be sold as add-ons to some of Contiki’s longer holidays.
The expanded range of domestic breaks follows a survey of its Contiki’s UK clients which showed 71% of respondents are planning to travel around the UK this year. Of these, 38% named Scotland as their destination choice and almost 15% wanted to experience English national parks.
The new UK breaks include London, Brighton, the Lake District, Peak District and Scotland.
