Aer Lingus to meet demand for Dublin flights from London City

AER LINGUS is set to launch flights from London City Airport to Dublin this winter.

News of the planned launch comes days after Jersey European Airways revealed it will operate the route under a codeshare arrangement with Irish carrier CityJet which begins next month.

Aer Lingus currently operates London flights to Dublin from Heathrow and Stansted.

An airline spokesman said London City was being looked at as part of an overall review of Aer Lingus services from the British capital. “We are looking at the overall London market and there is demand from our strong customer base to serve the London City area,” he said.

But a source at Aer Lingus confirmed the carrier would make an announcement shortly about flying from LondonCity.

London City managing director Richard Gooding said: “We understand that as a result of JEA operating the codeshare to Dublin this winter, Aer Lingus also plans to operate on the route this winter.”
