Virgin Atlantic is set to name American Airlines executive Craig Kreeger as its new chief executive later today, according to Sky News.
Kreeger, who is set to take over from current chief executive Steve Ridgway when he leaves in March after 11 years in the job, is American’s senior vice president – customer.
He was previously based in London where he oversaw all of American’s sales and ground operations activities in Europe and Asia.
He took on those responsibilities in December 2003 when he became vice president, Europe and Pacific Division.
Kreeger joined American’s leadership team in March 2006 when he was named senior vice president – international.
In his current role, Kreeger oversees all of American’s domestic, Europe, Latin American and Asia airport operations, customer service planning as well as flight service, AA.com, reservations, Premium Services and the company’s customer experience initiative.
Sky News has reported that an internal announcement of Kreeger’s appointment was due to be made this morning ahead of an external announcement this afternoon.
