Sacramento flags tours in the great outdoors

SACRAMENTO Tourism is promoting several new California excursions to the UK.

The state’s Ironstone Vineyards and outdoor river specialist OARS have created a Wine on the River package with rafting on the South Fork of the American River, one of California’s most popular runs.

It begins at the base camp resort at Coloma, 45mins from Sacramento, where a gourmet dinner with wine is included, followed the next day by breakfast, lunch and a rapids trip. The price is $210 per person.

Another option is an open-air tram tour through the valleys of the Sierra Mountains from Sacramento to Yosemite. The journey, operated in conjunction with Sacramento Grayline and Amtrak, is escorted by a park ranger and costs $115, which includes the round-trip journey and box lunch.
