Korea Tourism recruits Gangnam Style’s PSY

The Korea Tourism Organisation is to feature ‘Gangnam Style’ phenomenon PSY in a series of TV commercials to promote travel to the country.

The ads entitled ‘PSY’s Wiki Korea’ have been inspired by online encyclopedia Wikipedia.

He presents cultural attractions such as Samgyeopsal (Korean pork belly barbecue), Jeju Olle Walking Trail and the cosmetic street at Myeongdong shopping area.

The core concepts of Korean culture ‘Gi (energy)’, ‘Heung (joy)’ and ‘Jeong (affection and love)’ are weaved into all aspects of the ads.

The adverts, along with the print media versions, will be simultaneously launched next month via major international media.

KTO’s tourism brand and product department executive director Jeon Hyo Sik said: “PSY’s fans are all over the world regardless of age or region.

“Hopefully, our promotional videos will attract worldwide attention”.

The PSY brand, and legacy continues to inspire a new generation of travellers to Korea, according to the KTO.
