Norwegian to pay bonus commission to more than 1,800 Breakaway agents

Norwegian Cruise Line will pay 4% bonus commission to more than 1,000 travel agents who attended launch celebrations for new ship Norwegian Breakaway in Southampton last month.

The line introduced an Engage & Reward scheme, which incentivised agents to attend ship tours and educational sessions to build up bonus commission levels up to 4% above their usual rates.

Of around 2,500 agents who attended the event, 75% completed enough activities to trigger between 1% and 4% bonus commission, while 50% achieved the full 4% which will apply on bookings made between May 15 and June 14.

The remaining 25% of agents failed to trigger any bonus commission, but the initiative was still hailed a success by the line’s business development director Nick Wilkinson.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this innovative way to engage with our travel partners,” he said.

“The figures speak for themselves and the feedback received from our partners has been really positive. Not only did agents have an opportunity to experience our unique Freestyle Cruising product first hand but they now have the opportunity to sell Norwegian and earn a little extra at the same time.”

The bonus commission will apply on all 2013 sailings booked before June 14.
