Charter airlines say they are working with airport baggage handler Swissport to ensure no disruption over the summer peak travel period.
Last week travellers were delayed by up to 90 minutes at Gatwick due to staff shortages at the ground handling company, following similar problems three weeks ago.
This prompted warnings from trade union GMB that the problem will reoccur when the main summer getaway starts in a few weeks.
Swissport is contracted by all the main charter carriers including Thomas Cook, Tui Travel, Monarch and BA, to handle luggage at Gatwick.
It also handles baggage at other UK airports including Heathrow, Luton, Manchester and Edinburgh.
A Thomas Cook spokesman said: “We are working with Swissport to ensure our customers do not experience baggage delays at Gatwick, and we are aware that they have recently reviewed staffing levels at the airport.”
A spokeswoman for Monarch Airlines said: “We have introduced airport customer experience hosts and we will make sure they are on hand at Gatwick and Manchester.
“We are taking steps to review the situation and we will have additional measures in place over the summer months.”
Swissport spokesman Colin Higgins said: “We experienced a few difficulties over the weekend as we were particularly down on staff, but we have appointed new staff and are continuing to do so. We do not anticipate any more problems.”
