Chinese outbound tourism webinar announced

A global webinar focusing on the Chinese outbound tourism market is due to run live from 5am to 5pm on September 24.

The event is being put together by Capela China and the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute.

The UK is covered as part of northern Europe in one of four regional time slots and will air between 9am and 1pm.

Capela China’s input, covering England and Wales, has an hour – starting around 11.45 – to examine the latest developments and talk to key players around the country.

There will also be an interview with interim VisitBritain chief executive Keith Beecham, and a report from Birmingham airport on the first direct flights from China to a non-London UK airport. Visits are also made to Bicester Village, Chatsworth and York as the session investigates Chinese tourism into England and Wales, what attracts Chinese visitors and what could be improved.

Cotri director Professor Wolfgang Arlt said: “The demand for the webinar has been overwhelming, so we agreed with our co-organisers on a bandwidth which supports an audience participation of up to a million.

“Registration before September 24 or on the day is optional to viewers, but only registered participants will have the opportunity of downloading the content of the webinar for free afterwards.”
