Evacuation shelters have been set up as more than 100,000 residents and visitors flee at least six wildfires which have killed five people in the Los Angeles area.
Latest reports point to the latest blaze breaking out in the Hollywood Hills amid high winds and drought conditions in southern California.
Visit California said: “Multiple fires continue to burn in the Los Angeles County area and many residents have been evacuated from their homes.
“Red Flag warnings are in effect for portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.”
The Los Angeles Fire Department noted “several reported injuries to both civilians and firefighters” with 12 helicopters and six aircraft working to contain the largest fire in the Pacific Palisades area.
LA Tourism said: “We are heartbroken to see the devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires.
“As this challenging and ongoing situation unfolds, our focus remains on the safety and well-being of residents, visitors and first responders in affected areas across our City.
“We urge everyone to stay informed through the Los Angeles Fire Department to follow all warnings and evacuation orders from first responders.
“Our hearts are with the members of our community during this difficult time. We extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders who have worked tirelessly to combat the fires since they began on Tuesday.”
The City of Santa Monica issued a new expanded evacuation order.
Visit Santa Monica urged residents and visitors in the area to leave immediately.
“An evacuation warning remains for all additional areas north of Montana Avenue and this warning is now expanded to all areas north of Wilshire Boulevard and west of 10th Street. Residents and visitors in this area should gather essentials and prepare to leave if needed. Those who require additional time to evacuate should leave now,” a statement said.
Many hotels are offering discounts to residents who have been evacuated due to the Palisades fire.
