Jet2 and Jet2holidays to be honoured at Hall of Fame

Jet2 and Jet2holidays are to receive the prestigious Business Achievement Award at this year’s Travel and Hospitality Hall of Fame.

The sister companies, part of the Dart Group, have posted impressive growth in recent years and contributed to a 66% increase in half-yearly profits in the six months to September 30, 2015.

The Business Achievement Award is presented to an individual or business as part of a ceremony which includes the induction of new Hall of Fame members from the travel and hospitality industries.

This year’s event takes place at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Monday, April 25, and inductees from the travel industry will be Peter Stephens, founder of DialAFlight, Manfredi Lefebvre, chairman of Silversea Cruises and Chris Photi, head of travel & leisure at White Hart Associates.

Recent winners of the Business Achievement Award include easyJet chief executive Carolyn McCall, Travel Republic, OAG chief executive Willie Walsh and Patrick Dempsey, managing director of Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are thrilled to be receiving this award. It is a fantastic accolade and tops another strong year for us.

“Jet2.com had an exceptional summer last year, carrying 4.53 million passengers. This year is set to be our biggest yet with further route expansion and the introduction of the first of our 30 new, next-generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

“Jet2holidays also continues to go from strength to strength. We’ve grown the number of passengers travelling with us from one million in 2014/15 to more than 1.2 million in 2015/16.

“To be recognised by the industry for our achievements in providing friendly low fares and package holidays you can trust is a real honour.”
