Clia announces dates for 2017 conference

Next year’s Clia Cruise Conference will take place in Southampton on May 24-26.

The first day will be held on board the newly refurbished Queen Mary 2, with a trade fair in the evening.

Conference sessions and a gala dinner will follow on May 25 at the Hilton At The Ageas Bowl. Royal Caribbean International’s Navigator of the Seas will host agents on May 26.

There will be optional visits to Princess Cruises’ Crown Princess and Royal’s Independence of the Seas on May 27.

Registration opens on September 29 and the Clia team expects it to sell out following the success of this year’s event, which attracted more than 650 delegates.

Clia UK & Ireland is also poised to begin a ‘Cruise Relay’ tour of UK ports later this month.

UK director Andy Harmer and events and training manager Adele Fitzpatrick-Foster will be travelling around the country to raise the profile of ex-UK and round-Britain cruising.

They will also be spreading the word about Plan a Cruise Month in October.
The tour begins in Dover on September 23 and finishes in Portsmouth a week later.

Harmer said: “During the tour, we’ll be joined by members of Clia’s executive committee, and we’re encouraging agents to join us too.”
