Singapore Airlines goes daily from Gatwick

Singapore Airlines is raising Gatwick frequency to a daily flights just 10 months after starting the service.

The current five Gatwick flights a week will increase on March 31, in addition to four flights a day from Heathrow and five a week from Manchester to Singapore.

The Gatwick departures enable connections via Singapore to Sydney in 21 hours and 30 minutes, one of the quickest air links to Australia.

The 13-hour flight to Singapore is operated by Airbus A350-900s with 253 seats in a three-class configuration, with 42 seats in business class, 24 in premium economy and 187 in economy.

UK & Ireland general manager Mohamed Rafi Mar said: “There’s no greater testament to the success of our London Gatwick service than the expansion of our schedule within its first year.

“We are excited to increase our service to a daily operation, offering customers enhanced access to the destinations they love.

“There has always been a strong connection between both countries – whether for business or leisure travel – and we’re delighted to help facilitate this even further.

“With 40 direct weekly services between the UK and Singapore, we offer more flights than any other carrier to the region. We look forward to building on this fantastic momentum with the London Gatwick team.”

Gatwick chief commercial officer Jonathan Pollard added: “The increase in Singapore Airlines’ service to a daily operation, within a year of launching at London Gatwick, highlights the huge success of the route and cements the airline’s commitment to operating from the airport.

“Singapore is one of a number of long-haul carriers looking to increase frequency and routes from London Gatwick, which is testament to the fantastic service we are able to provide our airline partners and their passengers.

“Through continued investment in infrastructure and facilities, we look forward to providing passengers with even greater choice and competition over the coming months and beyond.”
