Industry raises £12,000 for Abta Lifeline at charity dinner

Members of the travel industry raised just under £12,000 for Abta Lifeline at the charity’s annual dinner last night.

The event saw guests bid on holidays, trips and lunches during an auction overseen by charity chairman and Kuoni managing director Derek Jones.

Tui, Thomas Cook, Sunvil Holidays and Holidaysplease were among the companies which had donated lots for the auction.

The BBC’s Jeremy Vine was guest speaker at the event which was held at the Royal Air Force Club in London’s Piccadilly.

During the evening guests were also given an insight into some of the people the charity has been able to help including former homeworker Tina Lee who was waft disable after treatment for a brain tumour.
