THE eight airlines in Star Alliance are striving to harmonise their services.
These include similar seating to give passengers consistent seat pitch and seat width and similar in-flight entertainment.
They also realise that safety records must be unblemished to avoid affecting the business of partner carriers. To this end, common safety standards are being introduced.
As an example to the improvements United is attempting to make its feeder service, United Express, an all jet product. However, alliance members warned passengers not to expect an instant transformation of products or sudden rebranding.
Carriers are also merging lounges and frequent-flyer programmes.
