Toilet blockage diverts Pakistan International Airlines flight

A Pakistan International Airlines flight was diverted to Manchester airport after all its toilets became blocked.

The Boeing 777 was travelling from Toronto to Lahore when it was forced to land in Manchester.

The airline tweeted: “Today’s [Saturday’s] Toronto-Lahore PK-798 flight has been diverted to Manchester as its toilets got choked, due to something solid thrown by passengers.

“As all toilets are connected with a common drain line, the rest of the toilets were choked.

“Keeping in view the convenience of passengers, the flight has been diverted to Manchester where the toilets will be serviced before the flight continues its onward journey.

“Inconvenience to passengers is regretted.”

The aircraft took another hour to reach Manchester and then was on the ground for another three hours before it could take off again.

Passengers eventually reached Lahore with a delay of five hours, The Sun reported.

The airline said that “passengers need to strictly adhere to and carefully read the warning signs in the toilets”.
