Confusion leads rental broker to list full prices

HOLIDAY Autos has reverted to offering a full list of prices in its new car-rental brochure launched on April 1.

The car-rental broker featured only lead prices for destinations in its last programme and supplied agents with a separate price guide.

But marketing manager Lindsey Pritchard said agents were not happy with the partial list. “I don’t think they picked up on the idea,” she said.

The new brochure features rental rates into 2000, with price reductions for many popular destinations, such as Spain, Australia and New Zealand.

A group A car for one week in Canada from April to June and September to October is ú21 cheaper than last year at ú158, while one week in Austria from April to October is down ú11 to ú175 for a group A car. The lead-in price for a group A car for one week in Malaga between January and March 2000 is ú72.

Holiday Autos has extended its upgraded product, The Max, to car hire in Denmark and Norway. The package includes a tank of petrol, additional driver coverage, fast check-in, no insurance excess and cancellation protection.

The broker has introduced a new reservation telephone number to replace the existing 0990 number.

The new number – 0870 400 0000 – is charged at a national call rate, while 0990 numbers are to become premium rate under changes planned by BT.

For the next few months, reservations can be made using either number.
