Marco Island
Some 20 mins drive southeast of Naples is Marco Island, the largest of Florida’s 10,000 Islands range. It is highly developed with condominiums, resort hotels, shopping malls and an overwhelming number of restaurants, and is the winter home for many Americans from the northeastern states. The sugar-white Crescent Beach curves for three-and-a-half miles down the entire western shore of Marco Island, and nearby waterways run through a maze of smaller islands. The area is good for boating and fishing, and has access to thousands of acres of wildlife reserves.
Old Marco Inn is a turn-of-the-century Victorian property and now a restaurant worth trying. Also try Little Bar and Restaurant for seafood, situated on the waterfront at Goodland, an old Florida fishing village on the eastern edge of Marco Island.
