Accor finds it’s men who behave badly

BACKCHAT’s revelation that women misbehave more than men in hotels has prompted a rejoinder from Accor Asia Pacific (Travel Weekly January 20).

The chain surveyed its 21 Novotel properties in Australasia during December and found men are just as bad.

Its top facts about men’s behaviour in their own hotels were that they:

n Watch the most porn movies (95% of guests who watch porn channels are men, and 5% women. A straw poll in the Travel Weekly office suggests this finding is a fairly accurate one).

n Turn the TV up too loudly (Accor doesn’t say whether they tend to keep volume lower when watching naughty films).

n Don’t hang their towels up.

n Drink the beer from the mini-bar (women prefer mineral water).

n Leave their mobile phone chargers behind in rooms (women leave knickers).

n Sleep through alarms.

On the other hand, men do send more flowers and champagne to their absent loved ones than women do.

However, Novotel points out that it has no way of telling if the recipients are wives or lovers.
